14th Women's Leadership Initiative Programme 2016-2017

The Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) was established in 2003 under the guidance of the Women Chief Executives’ group. The Initiative offers female senior managers working in Northern Ireland public service a unique opportunity to develop their leadership potential and improve crucial networking skills.
Now in its 14th year, this highly regarded programme is designed with three main objectives in mind:
1. To provide opportunities for senior women to develop themselves as leaders, to enhance their visibility and to enable them to network and influence the wider external environment.
2. To increase the number of women progressing to higher level management positions.
3. To increase the representation of women in senior positions, particularly at chief executive level.
While the programme focuses on personal development, its wider purpose is an important one, to develop leadership capacity in the public sector.
