Making the Sound Bite Count!

This very highly regarded, long-running media skills programme for senior executives now operates from Belfast Met's industry standard facility, the e3 Building on Belfast's Springfield Road. The Building boasts state-of-the-art TV and radio production facilities plus a digital editing suite allowing programme participants to experience a real sense of what it would be like to face the media and have their interviews edited and played back.

The one-day workshop is highly interactive, so there are only six places available and early booking is recommended to guarantee a place. Designed to boost your confidence and build your interview skills, the programme combines a careful mix of general and personalised advice with practice sessions and one-to-one coaching in interview techniques from seasoned media professionals. You will be put on the spot; but you will enjoy the experience and, at the end of it, you will feel much better equipped if and when you are next called upon called upon to face the media.

The workshop will be led by two very experienced presenters, Mike Philpott and Iain Webster. Mike and Iain have extensive knowledge and experience in the newspaper, radio and television industries-locally, nationally and internationally. In giving you a feel for the industry, its mores and what makes stories newsworthy, their aim and the aim of the programme overall is to make people feel more composed in front of the camera or microphone. Those attending are asked to think of some work-based issue on which to rehearse an interview. Everything is kept strictly confidential.

The delegate fee is £295 plus vat.

These workshops consistently receive very positive reviews from participants: here's what one chief executive stated, "...The essential difference between this and a "standard" media skills course was that both Mike and Iain were speaking from considerable experience and conveyed some very useful tips on how to handle journalists, ... I would recommend the course for any senior manager who may be called upon to speak on the broadcast media and who is not already experienced".
