Bruce Robinson was the guest speaker at this year's AGM at the Belfast Hilton Hotel. Bruce is Head of the Northern Civil Service and leads 25,000 civil servants. He is also head of the Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister and Secretary to the Northern Ireland Executive. In these roles, he is the most senior adviser to the First and the deputy First Ministers. He was until July 2008 Permanent Secretary at the Department of Finance and Personnel from August 2007, having held the post of DFP Second Permanent Secretary since January 2006.
Prior to joining DFP, Bruce Robinson was Permanent Secretary at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) from November 2000 and before that he was Chief Execuitve of the former Industrial Board. A chartered accountant and an economics graduate of Queen's University Belfast Bruce joined the Civil Service in 1982.
The Meeting approved the Forum's Annual Report 2007–2008 copies of which were distributed at the meeting and subsequently sent to all members. A second resolution approving the appointment of FGS McClure Watters as the company's auditors was also passed.
