Cutting Back: What happens when the public sector shrinks?

February 17 2012

We continue our partnership with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and on this occasions our breakfast briefing will be with the Institute's public policy advisor, Gerwyn Davies, who will be well known to BBC Radio 4 listeners. Gerwyn makes regular appearances on various platforms up and down the country and in other news media talking about labour market trends and the effects the recession and government cut-backs are having.

With the rate of growth in private sector jobs slowing and becoming insufficient to offset public sector job losses, and with a marked fall in private sector employment imminent, how are regional economies like ours coping and what are the implications?

This will be the backdrop to the discussion, if you would to reserve a place please click on the 'Register' button above (you will need the log-on name and password which has been circulated) or contact Kim McKnight, (T) 02890 347400.

Breakfast will be served at 8.00am and the presentation will commence at 8.30am, concluding no later than 10.00am. There is no fee payable to attend this event.
