For those interested in leadership—particularly those who might be interested in the FEI programme and what it has to offer in terms of their leadership development—this SCS Masterclass was an excellent opportunity to hear from someone who really has something to say on leadership with specific reference to the notion of global leadership, the crucial role that values play in leadership, and the perspectives of different generations.
Pete Ronayne joined the Federal Executive Institute as Dean of Faculty after studying, teaching, and researching at the University of Virginia. He co-founded FEI's Centre for Global Leadership and directs FEI’s ‘Leadership for a Democratic Society’ programme. A former Presidential Management Intern, Pete teaches as an adjunct professor in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia and did his undergraduate work at Georgetown University. His SCS Masterclass will be on the topic of ‘Leadership in Operational Delivery’ and the ability to execute.
The Northern Ireland public service has a longstanding relationship with FEI. More than 100 senior public servants have graduated from FEI’s highly prestigious ‘Leadership for a Democratic Society’ programme. In recent years the number of places allocated to Northern Ireland participants has increased. This year we have a record number of 14 participants.
The Masterclass series has been designed to complement senior managers’ development and to support Professional Skills for Government (PSfG). Leadership sits at the heart of PSfG, and developing leadership skills is a key priority.
