September 08 2011

This workshop, specifically designed for chairs of audit committees and other more experienced audit committee members was led by Chris Swinson OBE, the Comptroller & Auditor General of the States of Jersey who also serves on a number of public sector boards and audit committees. The programme covered:

  • Membership of committees
  • Skills, knowledge, commitment, behaviours
  • Relationships with accounting officers, the executive, internal and external auditors, and the Northern Ireland Audit Office
  • What success looks like (openness, risk, confidence)
  • Things that often go wrong
  • Remedies

He was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales serving on many professional committees including the Auditing Practices Committee and the Accounting Standards Committee.
