Public Accountability and Governance for Senior Managers

June 06 2012

These regular half-day seminars target members of the senior management team who support the chief executive in his or her accounting officer role: heads of finance and audit functions and, more generally, others who direct operations and otherwise determine the ways in which an organisation discharges its functions.

Brian Whalley, an independent consultant and acknowledged expert in this area, presents the seminars, which include contributions from the Northern Ireland Audit Office.

The seminar programme covers:

  • what is meant by corporate governance, accountability and responsibility in government;
  • stewardship of public funds;
  • regularity and propriety in the conduct of public business;
  • the personal responsibility of the designated Accounting Officer;
  • the role of the Northern Ireland Audit Office; and
    the work of the Public Accounts Committee.

The fee for this seminar, which is repeatable, is £200+ VAT.
