This was the first in a new 'Breaking New Ground: New Models of Service Delivery' series of meetings over dinner organised in co-operation with PwC, with the topic for discussion in September being, 'Contracting for Outcomes'.
With austerity-led governments everywhere embarking on cost-cutting missions these discussions explore new ideas for public sector delivery and new ways of engaging private businesses, mutuals, charities and social enterprises in public services. This particular discussion considered comparatively new types of contract: those focused on results and the public good that is to be achieved, as opposed to services to be delivered and how programmes operate.
