Challenging times...

With public sector organisations experiencing what can best be described as "challenging times"; an unprecedented period of reform, high customer expectations and budgetary constraints. In such a challenging environment it is vital that we maximise the performance of individuals and teams, in order to deliver innovative and high quality services, built around a shared vision of the goals of the organisation.

Time to raise your game...

Paul MacKinnon (former High Performance Player Development Manager for New Zealand Rugby) argued that business and otherorganisations in Northern Ireland should take a good look at high performance sport and how techniques developed in sport can help improve team and individual performance.

No hiding places...

Paul noted that in high performance sport there are no hiding places, particularly when showcased on television. You either win or lose. Therefore all those involved must be focused on getting the right result. The constant pursuit of sustained success drives change towards achieving this end.

How does this apply to me and my organisation...

Paul, a director of thinkTASC, a new Northern Ireland professional business consultancy, outlined in his presentation and in the discussion that followed the tools that organizations can adapt to help management teams and the individual managers identify what they need to do. What they can do to maximise performance; develop leadership skills; grow as individuals and connect more effectively as a team.
