"There's nothing touchy-feely about increased profits. This is a tough economy. Stress-reduction and mindfulness [are] a proven competitive advantage for any business that wants one." (Arianna Huffington, Editor in Chief, Huffington Post)
As well as numerous scientific studies to prove its worth, the use of mindfulness to improve business operations continues to grow globally with companies such as Apple, Santander and Google advocating it as a technique to improve the wellbeing of staff, thereby increasing productivity. Both the Harvard Business School and the Drucker Management School at Claremont University favour the inclusion of mindfulness as part of their programmes, educating future leaders in ‘mindful leadership’ as an effective business tool. The use of mindfulness as a change management tool is also widely recognised with the Journal of Change Management (2013) citing it as enhancing ‘readiness for change’ on both an individual and organisational basis.
