The Forum is pleased to partner with Solace NI; the NI Confederation for Health and Social Care; and Deloitte to host this “master class” to explore ways to enable leaders to work across boundaries towards achieving mutual outcomes.
Until recently Chief Executive of Manchester City Council, Sir Howard Bernstein is acknowledged as the driving force behind the city’s vision and rebirth since the late1990s. He is credited as leader and key architect behind the devolution of powers to the Manchester regional area and will share his story about the Manchester approach to improve outcomes for its 2.7m citizens.
“Bernstein enacted one of the great modern British stories – of Manchester’s reinvention, from being locked into a post-industrial decline, to the young, thriving metropolis it is today”. Guardian 17 April 2017.
The Northern Ireland draft Programme for Government is underpinned by an outcomes framework and a commitment to more collaborative working. What are the leadership lessons to be learned from the Manchester experience, for example through a Community Planning approach? How is the city delivering on its ambition to become “the northern economic powerhouse”? How might we engender a team based approach locally?
Sir Howard will share reflections on his experience but importantly, attendees will be given opportunity to discuss and suggest means by which some of the lessons learned in Manchester may be applied here.
