MINISTERIAL BRIEFING: NI EXECUTIVE BUDGET 2024-25

May 31 2024

CEF is delighted to join with the NI Public Sector Chairs’ Forum to welcome Finance Minister Caoimhe Archibald MLA and DoF Permanent Secretary Neil Gibson for a briefing on the NI Executive’s Budget 2024-25.

As the Minister set out following the Executive’s agreement of the budget in late April, this is a difficult budget in which the demands on our finances far outstrip the funding available many times over: Written Ministerial Statement - Public Allocation 2024-25 (finance-ni.gov.uk)

At this event, the Minister and Permanent Secretary will provide further detail on the development of the budget and the practical implications on public bodies during this financial year and they will undertake a Q&A session with our guests.

The DoF team is very keen to then engage in a wider discussion on how public bodies can work together more effectively in the context of this very difficult financial outlook.  We will undertake a facilitated discussion at the event to explore these issues and produce a report for the Department reflecting the discussions.

The discussions will focus on the key challenges facing Northern Ireland’s public service bodies at present, including innovation and transformation; collaborative leadership; trust and accountability; digitisation and net zero.  They will draw on our recent discussion event with Deloitte on these themes.

This event is free of charge to members of the Chief Executives’ Forum and the NI Public Sector Chairs’ Forum.
