The conference has been convened by THRiVE - a collaboration of young people, parents, schools churches, community & voluntary organisations and statutory agencies working together in the Newtownabbey area to help children do well. It is supported by Thrive’s learning partners, Stranmillis Centre for Research in Educational Underachievement (CREU).
This two-day conference will explore innovative and collaborative approaches to tackling the impact of poverty on children and young people. It is targeted at policy makers, practitioners and academics interested in effective place based collaboration. The event will include a keynote address from international recognised expert in implementation science Professor Allison Metz, University of North Carolina who will also deliver a masterclass in implementation. Further insights will be provided from the Thrive team, on their project which operates on a pooled budget, involving support from numerous statutory agencies, with coordination support for the collaboration provided by Barnardo’s NI.
The event will also include input from a wide range of contributors including the First Minister Michelle O’Neill MLA; the Children’s Commissioner Chris Quinn; the Comptroller & Auditor General Dorinnia Carville, as well as insights and reflections from children and young people. Through a mix of presentations and discussions, delegates will have the opportunity to consider key themes and share learning about how together we can make significant impact.
This event is free of charge, and delegates can choose to attend on one or both days. Full details and booking links are available through Eventbrite here.
