REFERENCE : Specialised workshop on combating digital identity and document fraud

CEF/Catalyst Fraudathon 25

CEF looks forward to marking International Fraud Awareness Week by welcoming you to this specialised workshop on combatting digital identity and document fraud.

The threat to public services from digital identity and document fraud is ever growing. Fraud can lead to significant financial loss to the public purse and to the erosion of public trust.

The nature of the threat varies:

  • It can involve individuals or organisations using stolen or falsified identities to gain access to public services, leading to resource misallocation and potential financial losses.
  • Digital identity systems can be targeted by cyber-criminals, resulting in data breaches that expose personal information of service users, compromising their privacy and security.
  • Marginalised groups may be more susceptible to identity fraud, further entrench inequalities in access to services.
  • High profile fraud cases can erode public trust in digital systems, leading to hesitance among citizens to engage with digital services.

In this context, and to mark International Fraud Awareness Week, CEF is delighted to join with SureCert to invite you to Northern Ireland’s second Fraudathon – a specialised workshop addressing these challenges.

As a trusted partner to the Northern Ireland Government, SureCert has provided advanced digital identity checks and created over one million reusable digital identities for use across government services.

This workshop will feature a simulated fraud attack on a public service system, offering a unique opportunity to understand the evolving tactics of fraudsters and demonstrating how AI-driven solutions can prevent both identity and document fraud.

The simulation will expose potential vulnerabilities and showcase SureCert’s technology mitigates those risks. Additionally, it will cover real world examples of fraud, providing participants with tools and strategies to strengthen organisational defence.

Feedback from the pilot Fraudathon in 2024:

"I had the opportunity to attend a fraudathon event hosted by SureCert and was really impressed, so much so that I asked SureCert to run an internal event for the NI Audit Office!  The trainer is incredibly knowledgeable and really brings the subject to life through his engagement with the delegates and by presenting practical examples from his extensive experience.  It was a very insightful event that our staff thoroughly enjoyed and that gave us lots to reflect on". Suzanne Jones, Director, NI Audit Office

This event is free of charge to CEF members.

Due to the nature of the event, places are limited to 20 – we would ask that member organisations consider the most appropriate attendee for their organisation and to be aware that it may not be possible for CEF to facilitate multiple bookings from the same organisation.
